Q. What is the Medical Gemach?
A. The Medical Gemach was started by Bikur Cholim of Hollywood due to a pressing need in the community for people to borrow medical equipment on a temporary basis.
Q. Where are you located?
A. We are on the corner of Stirling Road and SW 40th Ave in Hollywood.
Q. What type of equipment can I borrow?
A. We have wheelchairs, an electric Shabbat scooter, canes, knee scooters, crutches, walkers, ramps, transfer board, shower chairs, an oxygen machine, ice machine for limbs, commodes, air mattress, recliner and more.
Q. How much does it cost?
A. It is free to borrow. Most items require a $25 deposit which is returned when equipment is returned. The electric scooter has a $250 deposit.
Q. How long can I borrow it for?
A. The Medical Gemach is meant for temporary situations, usually up to a month. If you need something a little longer we can make exceptions on a case by case basis.
Q. What is the condition of the equipment?
A. Most equipment is in new or like new condition.
